There's also going to be a super cheap 3G add-on from AT&T and Ericsson for around $30, and WiMax is in the cards as well. SL will be showing up in SL300 (13-inch), SL400 (14-inch) and SL500 (15-inch) flavors. Naim Audio HDX

Naim Audio, a name synonymous with high-end, has recently launched its very own hard drive-based music server, and on paper, it's a fairly mesmerizing piece of kit. The HDX packs a pair of 400GB hard drives (one primary and a back-up) and claims to be a "fully integrated CD ripping and data storage system." Aside from giving users a way to catalog their gargantuan CD collection in digital form, it'll also play tracks back in the finest of detail. Packed within is a Burr-Brown PCM1791A DAC, 24 bit/192kHz internal architecture, ultra-low jitter re-clocking circuits and a built-in touch panel, too. Best of all, any tunes stored on network / USB drives can also be played through the device, and it can send up to six different streams of music simultaneously over a home network. The rub? At £4,500 ($8,772), you're probably better off hiring Daft Punk to just play at your house.

DXG 569V HD

While DXG has few aspirations to taste or quality, they sure know how to price this stuff. The new DXG-569V HD cam can shoot 1280 x 720 video at 30 fps, captures 5 megapixel stills and sports a 3-inch foldout LCD, all for the bargain basement price of $169. Naturally, that video quality probably won't be putting RED ONE out of a job, and you'll need to supply your own SD card to make the magic happen, but if that doesn't dissuade you, you can swipe one from a Radio Shack shelf in silver or black as of today.

Of course, acquiring the industry's first 6 bay small form factor NAS drive won't come cheap, but official figures are still unavailable.

Lenovo's ThinkPad X200 is 0.8-inches thick, actually affordable

The screen has been shrunk down to 12.1-inches, and both SSD (64GB) and traditional hard drive options (up to 320GB) are on offer. Sony's new VAIO Z, FW, SR and BZ laptops go official

Sony has finally confirmed its new VAIO Z, FW, SR and BZ laptops. They share a common design language, Centrino 2 processors, configuration options and setup software to remove that icky trial ware, and a whole lot of Blu-ray between them. Of particular note is the VAIO Z, which packs a Blu-ray drive and HDMI into a 1-inch thick, 3.4 pound, 13.1-inch 16:9 form factor, and even discreet NVIDIA 9300M graphics and a full size hard drive bay, with an option for dual SSD in a RAID configuration (which is just rubbing it in, if you ask us). The Z, FW and SR keyboards are all of the isolated, raised key variety, which might remind people of the MacBook keyboard, but is actually a design Sony has been toying with for a while now. The 13.3-inch VAIO SR is Sony's bid at bringing its ultraportable line "mainstream" with supposedly aggressive price points, multiple color options, and a four pound form factor which leaves room for discreet graphics, but sadly no Blu-ray. The 16.4-inch VAIO FW, on the other hand, has room for it all, with a 16:9 aspect ratio screen well suited to playing back Blu-ray movies. Finally, the VAIO BZ skips over the home theater fanciness and shows a growing commitment from Sony in the business laptop space. There's a 15.4-inch screen, magnesium alloy case, spill-resistant keyboard, vPRO and all that other fancy security-related business stuff, though no HDMI or Blu-ray to speak of. The BZ and FW start at $1,000, the SR at $1,400, the FW premium at $1,750, and the Z will hit at $1,800, with an SSD option for $2,300. All should be available in the late July / August time frame.

Toshiba's 9.5-mm thin laptop disk hits 400GB

Toshiba just bested its own 320GB hard drive with a 400GB offering in the same 9.5-mm height form factor favored by most thin laptops.
The MK4058GSX spins just 2 platters which means the disk sports an impressive 477Mbit/mm2 (308Gbpsi) areal density while consuming 20% less power (0.0015W/GB energy consumption efficiency) and 2dB less noise than its own 320GB predecessor. Rounding out the specs are a 12-ms average seek and 8MB cache. Toshiba also boosted the rest of its 9.5-mm, 2.5-inch, 3.0Gbps SATA disk lineup to 7,200rpm including the 320GB MK3254GSY. Nokia 6600 slide

Nokia's trio of Nokia handsets that it calls Nokia 6600 slide, 6600 fold, and 3600 slide make for quite a neat array.

The 250 6600 fold is said to smoothly arc open with the press of a button to reveal a 2.13 inch OLED display sporting 16 million colours.

When off, a double tap of the monolithic cover reveals the time, messages and missed calls. A double tap also snoozes alerts and silences or rejects incoming phonecalls.

The 275 6600 slide features the same tap technology but bumps the digital camera up from 2 to 3.2 megapixels with a 2.2 inch QVGA display based on LCD tech, presumably.

The 3600 slide offers the same camera with built in background noise cancelation a first for a Nokia handset--for a respectable 175.

Falcon FragBox 8500

Falcon Northwest's FragBox 8500 which Sports a chassis that hasn't changed much in yrs to put simply is a game system without apologies.
Checking in @ $2,895 critics found the internals to be neatly put together, the unit as a whole satisfactorily mobile and yes, they confirmed that you will definitely be able to play the DX10 heavy versions of Crysis and World in Conflict at very decent frame rates.

Seiko Slimstick

While there is a plenty of products out there meant to measure your running miles, Seiko's looking out for those who would rather jump rope or do some heavy lifting rather than placing a beating on their knees.
The minuscule Slimstick (15gms; 2X6.4X.89 cms in size) is meant to reside in the pocket of a given exerciser and track calories burned along with an "overall workout value," which can be benchmarked against one's goal.
To do so, it packs a dual axis accelerometer and a decent amount of fairy dust, and yes, it promises to do all the things your paltry pedometer simply won't.
Price: Approximately: $55, or $67.

Fujitsu Siemens' netbook entry gets revealed

It looks like Fujitsu Siemens have broken cover on the next member to get in on the netbook party. That's right -- the company is launching a cheap, micro-sized laptop in the coming months... just like everyone else. According to reports, the 8.9-inch device will clock in around €300 or €400 (about $470 to $630), and will likely sport some version of Windows. The laptop will be part of the Amilo line, but little else is known about it at this point.

LG KF750

LG is launching its KF750.
This one's got a 5 megapixel camera with face recognition and the ability to shoot DivX video @ 120fps.
A member of LG's Black Label series, the 11.8mm slider is the thinnest 5 megapixel cameraphone on the market.
It will also be sporing an auto rotating touch screen display, suite of mobile Google apps, and Bluetooth when it makes its European debut sometime this year, presumably, for an unknown price.

ASUS Lamborghini VX3

ASUS has launched its Lamborghini VX3.

The VX3 build quality is second to none, the style touches are easy to adore and the keyboard is surprisingly satisfactory.

Unfortunately, the system faltered in more critical areas, partially due to the amount of bioatware that came loaded on, the 2.5GHz T9300 had a tough time surpassing other machines in benchmarking.

For folks hoping that the battery life would help negate that point, critics only yielded 67 mins during a DVD playback test (and just 2 hrs "in anecdotal use").

Samsung's i8510 inspires 8 megapixels of awe

Samsung's details are emerging on a so-called i8510 smartphone that features S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, FM radio, GPS, WiFi, and a whopping 16GB of internal storage -- not to mention a microSD slot that can take you up to 24GB. Oh, and there's the little matter of that camera, which features an dual LED flash and 120fps video capture at QVGA resolution. Add in DivX and DLNA certification, and we're kind of at a loss to figure out what's missing here. Boundless, unchecked hype, maybe? No word on a release date here just yet.

NDrive G280

NDrive has now announced a pair of new GPS devices that employ what the company claims to be the "world's first photo mapping system".
The new G280 and G800 units certainly look like they will get the job done and then some, with them each boating visual and audible speed camera alerts, a pedestrian mode for out of vehicle use, and of course the usual range of PMP features with an SD card slot provided for expansion.
The G800 also takes things a couple of steps further with built in Bluetooth and am FM transmitter to pump audio through your vehicle's speakers.
No hints given for the release.

Sony Ericsson Z780

Sony Ericsson has just announced a pair of mid range handsets.
The Z780 is the global sister to the announced Z770 for Europe.
It comes in packing UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900/2100 and quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE radios.
It also comes loaded with Google Maps for Mobile and GPS navigation, you won't get much use from the screen as it has 128X160 pixel display of unknown dimensions.
The G502 candybar also features Maps but lacks GPS. Both will feature M2 memory expansion, Bluetooth, and 2 megapixel cameras.

Panasonic HDC SD9

Panasonic's HDC SD9 is very small, but it does fall short in a no. of areas.
For beginners, Panasonic included a few quirky design choices.
For instance, removing the battery requires the LCD cover to be open, but doing so can also turn the camera on unless you place it in a different mode.
Granted, the small size didn't leave the outfit too much to work with, but if you are easily flustered by these kinds of niggles, you can run far, far away right now.
As for image quality, still shots are marginally better than awful, but capturing full motion HD clips is something it does manage to do relatively well.

Pioneer AVIC F500BT

Pioneer is cramming a 5.8inch 800X480 screen into the AVIC F500BT portable navigation device.
In addition to that gargantuan sceen, the F500 really excels at connectivity, with Bluetooth for hands free calling.
It also possesses an optional traffic antenna, and some ND BC2 add on to hook the unit up to a rear view camera.
You can also use it to control your iPod, but there's an SD card slot if you want to handle those tunes with the F500.
No word on price or availability, but should cost about $1100 atleast.

Samsung's low-power 128GB SSDs go mass production on the cheap

Good news on the SSD front. Samsung is now mass producing its 1.8- and 2.5-inch SSDs in both 64GB and 128GB capacities. And since these SATA II SSDs are based on MLC -- 64 MLC NAND flash chips of 16 gigabits each in the 9.5-mm thick 128GB SSD -- you can expect them to be cheap by comparison to SLC-based SSDs and faster by comparison to traditional laptop hard disk drives while lasting about 20 times longer than the expected 4-5 year life span of that mechanical spinner. Heaping happy on top of good, Samsung tells to expect the 256GB SSD to go mass production by the end of the year.

OWC HDD

OWC's Mercury on the go family of pocket hardrives has been around for quite some time. But the group is getting an all new leader, courtesy the recently announced 500GB edition.

It now packs a half terabyte of space on a 5,400RPM, 8 MB of cache drive.

The unit even includes FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 to ensure compatibility with pretty much what ever you are dealing with.

You will also find a copy of Prosoft DataBackup III for OS X and NovaStor NovaBackup for Windows bundled in.

It is expected to cost about $359.99.

BenQ MID

BenQ has been showing off its effort since the Intel Developer Forum last winter, but it hasn't exactly been all that forthcoming about the full specs of the device.

That situation seeems to have changed. Now, the device will pack an Intel Atom processor (the base 800MHz model), which will apparantely be backed up by 512MB of RAM, a 4GB SSD hard drive, and HSPDA support.

In addition it will also be integrated with WiFi and Bluetooth.

The device will also apparantely pack a so called "G Senser" for direct touch and free movement to surf on internet, along with voice activation, and optional GPS.

However, there is still no word on the all important pricing or release details.

The Ear Force X4 wireless headphones have just been revealed. Can't say I am thrilled by the $199.95 price tag.

Pioneer to launch Blu-ray recorders by year's end

Blue-ray recorders have been on the scene for a while now, but now that the format war's over, it looks like more companies are starting to commit to BD-R devices -- like Pioneer, which announced today that it'll have a Blu-ray recorder out in Japan by the end of the year. The company didn't say what model it would be or what price point it was aiming for, but the tech is being jointly developed with Sharp, so hopefully it's have a family resemblance to units like the 1TB AQUOS BD-HDW20 in everything but the $2,611 pricetag.

Hands-on with the Nokia N95 8GB for North America!

The N95 8GB for North America is pretty much exactly what you'd expect it to be -- an exact replica of the European version with the 2100MHz WCDMA radio surgically removed and replaced with an 850 / 1900MHz counterpart for speedy data in these lands. The screen is up to 2.8 inches versus the original N95's 2.6, but the 8GB of internal storage comes at the cost of the microSD slot, so don't get all cocky on us about rocking 16GB of storage in your pocket, alright? Check it in stores this quarter for $749.

Canon PowerShot SD790

Canon has the art of the compact digicam down to a science by now, and the PowerShot SD790 is no exception.

The SD790 includes a new physical scroll wheel that took a bit of getting used to, but turned out to be a quicker way to skim through menus.

Sony to launch slimmer PS2 in India and Russia this year.

According to Economic Times, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) will be launching the fourth version of playstation-2 (PS-2) by Diwali this year. This will simultaneously be released in the European and Indian markets, said SCE country manager (playstation) Atindriya Bose to ET. The higher-end version promises to be slimer, sleeker and more suave in its looks. There will be no more external AC adapters, all of which will be in-built and the product price will also be the same as the earlier version (Rs 6,990). SCE India will also be launching the playstation network for their playstation-3 in India, which will allow gamers to download free games and also buy them online. This portal is already available in the US and Europe. “The playstation network is ready for India. It is only the integration of the payment gateway that needs to be done.” said Mr Bose. We shall launch it by the end of this fiscal, he added. Sony Play Station, over the last 13 years, has evolved as every gamers aspiration. It has its own cult following and to grow this base, SCE wants to market PS-2 as gaming console for novices of all age groups and class. “PS-2 is an entry-level console, which helps first timers to enter the gaming zone,” said Mr Bose. While PS-3 failed to make as great an impact as PS-2, SCE wants to tap the BRIC markets with PS-2. It has a 120-million installed base, worldwide, with 3,40,000 of these being in India alone. “We feel PS-2 has the potential to penetrate further into the Indian and Russian markets. Console gaming is in its nascent stage in India. These are untapped markets and are new to the gaming world, hence we have no plans to phase out PS-2 anytime soon,” he added. Asked if this would affect the market for PS-3, Mr Bose said that would not be the case. “We do not market it as a PS-2 or PS-3. It is the experience of the PS that we market. PS-3 is for the next generation. People who are first timers in the gaming market want to pick up PS-2 and experience that, before upgrading to PS-3,” he said.
